Joe's Tales from the Road
Another busy week for Joe, read on for details -
January 13, 2012
Our weekend was a working one as we took down all of our Christmas decorations and stored them away for another year. Monday I was in the office working on various items, including a press call with Smart Meetings.
Tuesday we convened a staff meeting to kick off the year and debut a video we shot last month giving members a look back at our many accomplishments in 2011. We included a link in Wednesday’s eNews, and hope this will become a regular, quarterly feature. On Tuesday we also sent ALIS registered attendees an invite to the first HotelPAC event of the year, being held January 23 in LA and featuring Mike Murphy, a former campaign strategist turned columnist/commentator.
Wednesday, I was in the office briefly before heading to the airport to catch a flight to New York City. I hosted a dinner that evening at John Fitzpatrick’s hotel for the Venture Board before we convened a strategic planning meeting looking at the 2012 IHMRS the following day. It was a most productive meeting and I caught a late afternoon flight back to Washington.
Friday I was in the office, spending the majority of the day hammering out details in preparation for AH&LA’s Strategic Planning Committee, which will meet next Wednesday through Friday. This included an in-depth conference call with John Parke from Leadership Strategies and Judy King, our session moderator. The meeting next week will be the group’s first opportunity to take the Leadership Synergies’ findings and start crafting a real-world model for the association. We’ve convened a great group of members and I’m excited about the project.
I’m looking forward to the long weekend and wish you a pleasant MLK day.
